South celebrated a tradition that has endured for decades in American high schools, spirit week, the week of 1/29/2018 through 2/2/2018. Following tradition, each day has a special theme that students dress to match. South had Music Day where everyone dressed as or supported the style of their favorite music artist; Throwback Tuesday where everyone wore 50’s though 80’s style of clothing; Wednesday was Class Colors where Freshman wore purple, Sophomores wore blue, Juniors wore red, and Seniors wore green; Thursday was Multiplicity Day where groups twinned with each other and the staff got involved by wearing staff t-shirts; and finally Friday was Extreme Black and Gold. On Friday, the school celebrated school spirit during a pep assembly. During pep assemblies, each class competes in games and chants to win the Spirit Stick which is a South tradition started the year the school opened in 2009. This time, the Juniors won by winning 2 of the 3 competitions.
